She is a visual storyteller who uses counter-narratives to start a dialogue on the violent acts of reality and pursues possible social healing through art. She likes the idea of creating fictions that play with the "real". Stories that we can relate to, between the familiar and the oddness, she plays—creating new worlds that seem familiar but unrecognizable at the same time.&nbsp; She uses art as a way to honor stories. Using her heritage to re-imagine the past and always think of art as a social act rather than an individual practice. She is currently working on the&nbsp; “violence of the invisible”,&nbsp; the kind of violence that is linked to what we normally do not associate with instruments of cruelty. The violence that starts in the private sphere and ends up being reflected in the public space. vega https://magalyvega.com/asl_about A Sweet Lullaby for a Sensitive Future 2024 &nbsp;-&gt;Photo Registration&nbsp; About &nbsp; A Sweet Lullaby for a Sensitive Future The thick blood of silence. Who are we killing with our silence, our omission, our exclusion? This project is part of my ongoing research on the violence of the invisible, which I began in 2020. It explores forms of violence that are not typically associated with instruments of cruelty—domestic violence that eventually extends into public spaces. In this case, it focuses on the manipulation of water temperature as a tool of cruelty, a practice that has claimed the lives of numerous children in Portugal. Bathing, rather than being an act of cleansing, relaxation, or renewal, becomes a means of exerting control over children’s bodies. These bodies slowly become accustomed to the torture of both scalding and freezing water. The horror becomes most evident when, even as the water boils, the children do not scream—while their internal organs burn in silence. Drawing from testimonies, the following questions arose: Can we create a rebellion of memory? Can art comfort the heart? Can their cruel fate continue to move us? Can it still spark outrage? Or have we become quicker to forget than to demand justice? Why does the existence of a tragedy give rise to more tragedies? Can you smell violence in the water? How many candles are needed to create and spread light? Historical trauma experience not only involves the recurrence of an event, but it needs to remain unassimilable to consciousness, involves a story of survival and its possibility of passing on to another, and the possibility of address. A chance for the traumatic return to awaken the survivor and to awaken the survivor to an address.
